Disposing of appliances and want to do it safely? Rent a roll-off dumpster from Bargain Bins and get rid of unwanted appliances without cluttering your curbside. Rather than disposing of appliances by taking them to the landfill yourself, save time and money with a dumpster rental from Bargain Bins.

What not to do with your unwanted appliances

When disposing of appliances, don’t put them out with the regular trash on your curb for pickup. Your unwanted appliances will make the curbside look unattractive. It will be an unpleasant sight for the neighbors as the appliances might be standing outside for a while. Even if your local trash collector does take the unwanted appliances, you might get an additional fee charged on your bill at the end of the month.

Maybe you decide to take the unwanted appliances to the landfill yourself. The expense incurred for transport and your time might not be worth the trouble. There might be an additional charge at the landfill site, or they will turn you away as certain goods are not accepted at landfill sites either.

Never try to disassemble unwanted appliances yourself. The pilot lights in many appliances contain toxic chemicals such as mercury. Before appliances are recycled, these dangerous chemicals must be removed by trained technicians. If you have a Bargain Bins roll-off dumpster, most unwanted appliances can be disposed of in a dumpster standing in your driveway.

Safely disposing of appliances you don’t need

Appliance removal does not have to be complicated. Disposing of appliances safely can be done by throwing them into the roll-off dumpster rented from Bargain Bins. This includes large appliances or small appliances.

Maybe you have some old appliances stored in the attic, basement or garage that you even forgot were there. Why not get rid of these old appliances by putting them into the Bargain Bins dumpster as well, and get rid of some more clutter? There will be more space for those items your family uses seasonally.

Refrigerators and freezers cannot be disposed of in the Bargain Bins roll-off dumpster. The Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE) states that freon (chlorofluorocarbons, CFCs) must be removed from refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners before disposal. This must be done by specialist companies and technicians.

For guidelines on what can or cannot be disposed of in a Bargain Bins roll-off dumpster, check out the list on our website. The following appliances are, however, accepted in the dumpsters:

  • Washing machine
  • Dishwasher
  • Stove
  • Microwave ovens
  • Blenders
  • Water heaters.

If an appliance still works or can be repaired, sell it on Craigslist or another local site. Or you can choose to make a donation to the Salvation Army.

There are safety and environmental reasons why Bargain Bins does not accept certain materials, including specific appliances, in the roll-off dumpsters. Before booking a dumpster rental from Bargain Bins, look over the list of acceptable and unacceptable materials

If Bargain Bins does the pickup and unacceptable materials are found in the bin, they will be removed and left on site. Unacceptable items found upon dumping the bin at the landfill will be returned to the owner. Upon return to the owner in this instance, you will be assessed a fee per item, and any fines will be administered, plus ten per cent.

Bargain Bins is a locally owned and operated roll-off dumpster rental service. We will accept all appliances in our dumpsters except for fridges and freezers. If you are disposing of appliances and other household items, contact us today.
